Reducing Re-offending Alliances in the North East. A review commissioned by the Regional Offender Manager, researched and delivered by Deborah Marshall, ACPO Northumbria Probation Service.

All of society is affected by crime.  In November 2005 Baroness Scotland announced the introduction of Reducing Re-offending Alliances that sought to involve representatives from the Corporate Sector (businesses and local employers), the Civic Society Sector (local authorities and health trusts) and the Faith, Voluntary and Community Sectors (faith groups, voluntary and local community organisations).  The expectation being that each of these groups will contribute to the debate about what works to reduce re-offending and would offer practical help in supporting offenders to reintegrate within local communities.

The report examines progress made to date; identifies opportunities for developing the alliances and includes relevant recommendations for taking the work forward.
