Working in partnership

The East of England works together with a wide range of regional, sub-regional and local stakeholders to reduce re-offending and protect the public.

 Organisations worked with include:

  • Statutory and formally commissioned local delivery bodies, eg, Prisons (both public and contracted out), Probation Areas, Supporting People Commissioning bodies, Primary Care Trusts, Drugs and Alcohol Action Teams (DAATs), Learning and Skills providers
  • Agencies and organisations providing or supporting interventions with offenders, eg, Jobcentre Plus, Local Authorities, Housing Associations, Children’s Trusts, and a range of organisations whose core business is not necessarily working with offenders but who provide services which offenders need to access or support in doing so
  • Co-ordinating partnerships (both statutory and non-statutory), such as: Local Strategic Partnerships, Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnerships, Local Criminal Justice Boards, Multi-Agency Public Protection Arrangements (MAPPA) and Local Safeguarding Children Boards.

Examples of some of our key partnership relationships include:

East of England Reducing Re-offending Delivery Plan

The RRDP for the East of England (new window) published in April 2006 represents the local vision for reducing crime and protecting the public. The plan is taken forward by seven pathway groups who in turn report to the Regional Strategic Partnership Board, that is chaired by the ROM. That regional board then reports to the National Reducing Reoffending Board and inter ministerial group.

The RRDP is a clear recognition that reductions in re-offending cannot be achieved by the correctional agencies alone, but demand systematic and co-ordinated delivery of services from a wide range of agencies concerned with a wide range of issues. These include mental health, drug and alcohol treatment, accomodation, employment and training and family relationships.

We will be updating the regional reducing re-offending plan in Autumn 2008 to take account of a new national plan which is expected to be published in Summer 2008.
